Quiz: Match the Quirky Baby Name to the City
There’s nothing like the thrill of hearing a unique name in the wild. That’s why when I’m out and about, my ears are always open — just in case there are quirky names around.
Living in a big city like Chicago, I’m lucky to overhear tons of interesting names. In my neighborhood, I’ve come across Zella and Asha, Tallulah and Damir. Just yesterday, I met a young Adler!
When I was running the data for our story on the Quirky Favorite Names in 10 Top Cities, I was curious to see if my local sample would align with the names disproportionately searched on Nameberry by Chicagoans. I have yet to overhear children named Wednesday or Meadow (maybe one day soon!) but I’ve spotted Rory, Palmer, and Zinnia, Barrett, Beck, and Brady at least once or twice in recent years.
Outside of Chicago, we found the Top 10 quirky favorite names in Auckland, Dallas, Dublin, Edinburgh, London, LA, New York, Sydney, and Toronto.
But what about the names ranked Number 11? They’re the subject of this week’s quiz.
Read about the Top 10 quirky favorite names in each city, then see if you can match the city to their Number 11 disproportionately-searched baby name.
