Woodsy Names for Boys 🌲
I really hate camping. You’ll be hard-pressed to find me out in the woods, in a tent, without heat or running water (no thank you!). But a woodsy baby name? That’s something I can get behind. All the beauty and serenity of the forest, without the mosquito bites.
This week on the blog, we profiled this hot new trend in boy names. Woodsy names encompass those of legendary frontiersmen (think Boone and Kit), woodland flora and fauna (try Cedar or Hart), and traditional names with unexpected woodsy meanings (did you know Silas means “forest?”)
But the ones to watch are the pan-arborous choices that connect to the forest as a whole. What does that entail? Click the link below to find out. 🏕
According to the comments on our Instagram post, this seems to be true! Our Berries have cats with names like Corsica and Meatball, Beep and Calamity Rose (but also some creatively named dog like Streudel and Margarine).
I pride myself on picking inventive pet names (I named my mom’s dog Fisher — he’s a Pisces ♓️) but that wasn’t always the case. Four-year-old me called my betta Jennifer Fish in honor of my mother.
Professional tip: don’t name your pets after living relatives 🐶
Names a la Margot
It’s every parent’s worst nightmare: you have the perfect name picked out for your baby, and then — it’s used by your husband’s boss. Au revoir, Margot! 😭
Back to the drawing board. Can these Berries find a name that’s just as special and strong?
Our Name Sage was called in, and she has eight great suggestions for this panicked couple (Esme seems perfect!)
You can weigh in with your picks on our forums — I’m adding Marnie, Colette, and Imogen.

I rarely say this, but this name definitely should not be used as a first name 🔥
Loving this recently-announced starbaby name 😍
I’m not Catholic, but I still find tons of inspiration in cool saints’ names (my faves: Clement, Linus, and Lelia)
