I love to talk to my gynecologist about baby names.
Every time I see her, she tells me the names of the babies she’s delivered.
Most recently: “The baby’s name was Maverick. Can you believe it?”
Uh, yes. Actually, the more unbelievable piece is that she’s only delivered one Maverick, given that it’s currently ranked at Number 47.
I told her there are more to come.
Maverick is not the crazy name she thinks it is, but I would have given her an astonished reaction had she told me the child’s name was Demon or Khaos — both of which were actually used for (a small number of) babies last year.
In fact, any of the names on our list of the Craziest Baby Names in America would have surprised me. There are children with names like Furious, Meek, and God — really!
But who knows? Maybe one day I’ll have the same reaction to names like Renegade and Tsunami as I do to Maverick.
Unique Place Names 🌎
Recent celebrity babies bear names such as Rome, Tex, and Ethiopia — yes, cool place names are a trend to watch!
Our recent favorite has to be Scotia, the Latin term for Scotland 🏴
This week, we featured one on our Instagram ⬇️
Scotia’s mom told us:
My husband was teasing me, 'you’ll go with any name I choose? Anything?!' We then saw a sign for Nova Scotia and he went, 'Even Scotia?' And I actually loved it! It’s perfect too as his family heritage is Scottish and his dad's family is from Nova Scotia.
It’s a beautiful choice and — bonus — could lead to the trending nickname Scottie.
