Imagine a baby name chart where Cordelia and Elowen are in the Top 100, where Caspian sits right below Henry, and where the top girl name is literally Unique.
It can only be the most popular names on Nameberry!
We’ve tallied up the names with the most views between January—June 2025, and there are some exciting new additions to the list since this time last year.
What’s Special About the Nameberry Chart?
The official popularity lists for countries and regions are great, but they’re out of date as soon as they’re published. They tell you what the most popular names were last year, or even the year before.
But what if you want to know what’s hot now? Either to make sure you haven’t missed a great name, or to avoid anything that’s getting too popular. The Nameberry chart is the closest thing to a crystal ball we have.
Most visitors to our site are parents-to-be, or are considering names for future use. The very fact that they’re here shows that they’re conscious of names, want to know more about them, and have an eye for style.
So the names they look at may not be the most popular in real life yet, but we’ve learned over the years that they’re likely to keep rising in future.
Top 10 Names of 2025, Mid-Year
Since this time last year, half of our Top 10 girl names have changed. Unique has shot from below the Top 100 to Number 1, fuelled by a sudden interest from our readers in South Asia. Once it reaches the top of the charts, it attracts even more clicks, and becomes self-perpetuating.
We’re unlikely to see Unique soar up the real baby name charts (it’s well below the Top 1000 currently), but the rest of the top girl names are more promising. Hazel leapt up 16 spots to return to the Top 10, while Isla, Violet and Amelia only climbed a few spaces to re-enter. Apart from Unique, the most-viewed girl names show our enduring love for long, flowing names with plenty of el, ay, ee, and eye sounds.
On the boys’ side, new entries to the Top 10 since this time last year are Rowan — which is up 17 places — Jude, Milo, and Henry. Names with a “Ro” sound are ones to watch, as Roman, Ronan, and (for girls) Romy have also risen this year.
Theodore and Henry are our all-star names, featuring in the US Top 10 boy names as well as Nameberry’s. They are ideal if you’re looking for a well-loved name that’s not going out of style any time soon.
Fastest Rising Names
Names that have had a large increase in views compared to this time last year include many short, slight-sounding choices with an air of glamour: Ayla, Mira, Etta, Lila, Enzo, Leon, Nico, Kit.
Scandi classic Tove burst into the girls’ Top 100 after actress Lily Collins used it for her daughter in January. Parents-to-be are also considering French names, with Odette, Colette, and Celeste all rising considerably.
For boys, Scottish names Finley and Cameron made big leaps into our Top 100. Standout boy names climbing in the Nameberry charts include biblical Ozias — one of the fastest-rising names in real life last year — as well as multicultural Nael, and Latter Day Saints icon Talmage.
We also see a resurgence of interest in several firm favourites in real life. Lily, Isabella, Ava, Elizabeth, Alexander, Sawyer, and Leo have all risen significantly in the Nameberry charts since this time last year.
Here are the Top 100 most-viewed names on Nameberry in the first half of 2025.
