If you’re not sold on Jupiter yet…
Maybe Ed Sheeran can change your mind. The singer and his wife Cherry Seaborn just revealed that their new baby daughter’s name is Jupiter — she joins big sister Lyra Antarctica.
We’re not surprised they chose another mythical space name, and such a cool one at that. It’s barely used (yet) in the couple’s native England, but in the States it’s a fast-rising unisex name. In 2021 it was given to 129 baby girls, and 77 boys.
The question isn’t if Jupiter will make the Top 1000, but when. Maybe even 2023?
The only disappointment is not knowing if she has a middle name — Ed and Cherry set the bar high with Antarctica.
European Favorites 🇩🇰🇧🇪
Don’t overlook small countries when it comes to baby name style. This week I’m updating the latest top baby names lists for Denmark and Belgium for 2021 — here’s a sneak preview.
Danish parents have tons of Scandi style, with Alma and Oscar as the number one names.
Other cool choices in Denmark’s Top 50 include Ida, Agnes, Karla, Asta, Alberte, Frida, Josefine, Saga, Liva, Leonora, Gry (meaning dawn), and Alva; Alfred, Valdemar, Emil, Aksel, Viggo, Magnus, Anton, Konrad, Anker (meaning anchor), Storm, Pelle, Marius, and Walter.
Belgium’s top names are a unique blend of French, Dutch, and more recently imported languages like Arabic. The number one names there are internationally-popular Olivia and Noah.
Also in the new Belgian Top 100 are Noor, Alix, Lou, Giulia, Renée, Inaya, Manon, Lotte, Romy, Clémence, Cilou, and Tasnim; and Jules, Mathis, Raphaël, Eden, Lou (again), Vince, Gaston, Lowie, Lars, Gust, Maxime, and Cyriel.
