Growing up in Chicago, I rarely heard double-barrel names, save the occasional Mary-Kate or Maria Guadalupe — Catholic choices mostly borne by older generations.
But my future sister-in-law — and increasing interest on TikTok — inspired me to look into the double-barrel names parents are using today, both at home and abroad.

The most fun part of my research was finding the unique double-barrel names only used in one country or the other. The US records all names used for five babies or more in a single year, while the UK goes down to three.
