The Very Best Nature Names, As Chosen by You

Nature names have been used since time immemorial, but they’ve never been as popular or pervasive as they are today.

Taking a look at popular names in the US, names with conspicuous ties to nature — like Violet, Ivy, and Willow — rank among the Top 50, along with subtle nature names, such as Dylan (“son of the sea”), Stella (“star”), and Oliver (“olive tree”).

That’s what Subway is asking in its latest contest. Over 10,000 people agreed to legally change their name to Subway (and get free sandwiches for life) if they win. 🥪

We handle a lot of name change consultations at Nameberry, but we’ve yet to come across any that are sandwich related. I can’t say I’d recommend for anyone to go through with changing their name to Subway! (What would be the nickname? Subbie?)
